The most auspicious day to worship Mother Naageshwari Devi is on Naag Panchami which falls during August yearly. Below is a simple prayer to remove Kala Sarpa (snake) Dosha (curse) or any Sarpa Dosha and other obstacles in your life.

Benefits of chanting the Naageshwari Gayatri Mantra

The Naageshwari Gayatri Mantra is a divine mantra which provides protection for the worshiper who recites this mantra with utmost devotion. The Naageshwari Gayatri Mantra is also chanted to avoid as well as negate all kind of ill effects, curses, spells, and black magic. Apart from that, the Naageshwari Gayatri Mantra is also a very powerful mantra to remove as well as negate all kinds of Naga Dosha, Kala Sarpa Dosha, Sarpa Dosha as well as the malevolent shadowy planets Rahu’s and Ketu’s Dosha. The Naageshwari gives one the ability to win over one’s enemies and rivals. It also gives you the strength and courage to face your enemies. Best days to chant this mantra: (If you are unable to chant daily): Tuesdays, Fridays, Panchami tithi days (the 5th waning or waxing lunar days), Amavasya (New Moon Days), and on Purnima (Full Moon Days).

Best time to chant this mantra: Early morning and evening.

Number of Times to chant: 9, 11, 21, 108, or 1008 times.

Who Can Chant This Mantra: Anyone regardless of gender and age.

How To Worship: You can either use the Naageshwari/Nagamma Yantra/photo of the murti of Mother Nageshwari Devi.

Chant This Mantra Facing: East.

Naivedya/Prasadam (Food Offerings): Cow’s milk, sweets (mittai), sweet rice, unsalted popcorn etc. Fried or salty offerings are NOT offered.

Flowers offerings: Any fragrant flowers and/or Neem or Syringaberry leaves.

Japa Mala: You may use rosary beads made out of clear quartz (spartik mala) or Rudraksha mala or Neem mala (rosary beads made out of Neem bark) or rosary beads made out of serpentine (a type of semi-precious stone).

Fasting: Sunrise till sunset on Naag Panchami.

Sweet offering to Naageshwari Devi: Til Ke Laddoo (Laddoo infused with coconut and Til seeds Mittai)

Ingredients: White sesame seeds – 1 ½ cups, grated coconut – ¼ cup, grated jaggery – ½ cup, water as required.

Preparation: Roast the sesame seeds in a kadhai till it turns slightly golden brown. Transfer in a bowl and keep aside. Melt the jaggery (sugar) and add some water to make a syrup. It shouldn’t be too watery or too thick. Now add the grated coconut. Cook for some time until the water gets evaporated, then add the roasted sesame seeds and mix properly. Now make small laddoos from the mixture. Make sure the mixture doesn’t cool down, as it will make it difficult to make laddoos.

Lord Ganesh Prayer Procedure

Firstly offer an agarbatti, lamp (with either ghee or oil with a wick or a small piece of camphor), a flower (or all three on a tray) to Shree Ganesh (turn seven times clockwise around the murti or photo).
Then offer Lord Ganesh Naivedhyam (either sweet rice, Soji, sugar candy or fruits, etc).
Finally pray to Shree Ganesh, praying to him to remove all obstacles in the path of your Naag prayer that follows. Pray to remove all obstacles in the path of your prayer to the Mother. Naageshwari devi is now invoked and worshipped.

Mother Naageshwari Prayer Procedure

At the prayer place, place a Mother Naageshwari murti or photo.
Now chant the following:

  1. Hold your palms in the Namaste position and chant:
    Om swagatam su swagatam – Om Naageshwari-yai namah
    (Swagatam means “O Mother Naageshwari I welcome you”.)
  2. Offer one or three incense sticks (dhoopam) by turning it seven times clockwise around Mother Naageshwari’s deity/photo.
    Om tato dhoopam aghraa-payaami – Om Naageshwari-yai namah
    O Mother Naageshwari I offer you this incense, kindly accept my offering.
  3. Then offer a clay or brass lamp (deepam) with either ghee or oil with a wick or a small piece of camphor by turning it seven times clockwise around the deity/photo.
    Om prat-yaksha deepam darshayaami – Om Naageshwari-yai namah
    O Mother Naageshwari I offer you this lamp offering, kindly accept my offering.
  4. Then offer flower (pushpam) or flower petals by turning it seven times clockwise around Mother Naageshwari’s deity/photo.
    Om idam pushpam – Om Naageshwari-yai namah
    O Mother Naageshwari I offer you this flower, kindly accept my offering.
  5. Then offer unsalted popcorn, cut fruit or sweet meats or sweet rice (Naivedyam). It should be in a small bowl with a teaspoon. Turn the bowl seven times clockwise around the deity/photo and bring the bowl near the lips of Mother Naageshwari suggesting she partakes in the food offering. Then leave this in front of the deity/photo. This is later consumed by the family as the Devi’s Prashad.
    Om naivedyam samar-payaami – Om Naageshwari-yai namah
    O Mother Naageshwari I offer you this food offering, kindly accept my offering.
  6. Then in a cup (lota/chumbhu) which has Milk (no sugar) turn the lota seven times clockwise around the deity/photo and bring the lota near the lips of Devi suggesting she drink the Milk offering.
  7. Offer prayers for forgiveness
    Om yaani kaani cha papani janmaantara kritaani cha
    taani sarvaani nashyanti pradakshina pade pade //
    “O Compassionate Mother Naageshwari! Victory to You! Please do forgive all the errors committed by me with the hands, legs, speech, body, through actions, through the ears, eyes, mind or by not doing ordained actions or by doing prohibited actions”.

Then offer your personal prayers to Mother Naageshwari. Ask Mother Naageshwari for whatever you desire (within reason) and Devi being so merciful will grant what you desire. But be careful what you desire for. Bow down and leave the prayer place. The Dhaar is offered in your Devi thaan. The food offerings are eaten as prashadam.

Now chant the Naageshwari Gayatri Mantra:
Om Naagath-vajaaya Vidmahe
Kanni Roopaaya Dheemahi
Tanno Naaga Devi Prachodayaat
X 9, 11, 21, 108, or 1008 times.

Then offer your personal prayers to Mother Naageshwari. Ask Devi for whatever you desire and Devi being so merciful will generally grant what you desire as long as it isn’t a ridiculous desire. But do be careful for what you desire for.
