Objective: To perform a sacred fire ceremony in honor of Mother Marieammen.
Prerequisites/Requirements: Medium size bowl, 100g sesame (Til) seeds, 50g vegetable or butter ghee, havan samaghree, white rice, havan kund with sand, wood, Ganga water, camphor, Lord Ganesh picture/murti.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- 1. Mix sesame seeds, ghee, havan samaghree, and white rice in a medium bowl.
- 2. Place wood in a havan kund already containing a little sand.
- 3. Sip Ganga water three times while chanting “Om Vishnu”.
- 4. Invite Lord Ganesh by chanting “Om Ganapataye namah avaahaayaami sthaapayaami” and offer incense, lamp, flowers, and a sweet clockwise three times.
- 5. Invite Lord Vishnu and the devas to the havan.
- 6. Place camphor on the wood and light it.
- 7. Perform offerings by chanting the listed mantras and adding the mixture to the fire after each “swaahaa”.
- 8. Chant the Maha Mantra 11 times at the end for forgiveness of mistakes.
