• Objective: To perform a simple yet powerful fire ritual for spiritual protection and auspiciousness.
• Prerequisites/Requirements: 1 packet havan wood, 100g ghee, 200g black til, 1 bowl sweet rice, 1 strand kush grass, havan kund, 2 blocks camphor, Ganga water.
• Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Bathe and wear clean clothes before beginning.
2. Prepare the havan mixture by mixing a medium bowl of sweet rice with 200g black sesame (til) seeds, finely cut kush grass, and 100g of ghee.
3. Prepare the havan kund with a layer of sand and place the wood inside.
4. Sip Ganga water three times while chanting “Om Vishnu”.
5. (Optional) Chant the Hanuman Chalisa.
6. Place camphor on the wood and light the fire.
7. Invite the deities by saying: “O Lord Vishnu, Sarva Devis and Devas I [Your Name] invite you all to this auspicious havan.”
8. Chant the Mritunjaya mantra: “Om trayam bakkam yajaa-mahe sugan-dhim pushti-vardhanam urvaa-rooka-miva bandha-naam mrityor mooksheeya maamritaat Om” swaahaa.
9. Upon saying the final “swaahaa”, offer a portion of the sweet rice mixture into the fire.
10. Repeat the mantra and offering 108 times.
11. Ask for forgiveness for any mistakes and chant the Maha Mantra 21 times.
12. Request the deities to return to their abodes.
