Preparation of Dhaar

Objective: To prepare the sacred beverage mixture known as Dhaar for Devi Puja.
Prerequisites/Requirements: Turmeric sticks, cloves, nutmeg (Jaiphal), almonds, elachie, flower petals (Hibiscus), sugar candy, camphor, turf, cow’s milk, honey, akshat (unbroken rice), syringaberry leaves, Seel (flat stone), and Lorha (grinding stone).
Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Ensure silence and wear a mask to prevent saliva from soiling the mixture.
2. Place a small quantity of each dry ingredient (turmeric, cloves, nutmeg, almonds, elachie, sugar candy, camphor, turf, akshat) on the Seel.
3. Grind the ingredients together using the Lorha.
4. Add the ground mixture into a bucket of clean water.
5. Add cow’s milk and fresh flower petals (specifically Hibiscus) into the water.
6. Stir and mix the mixture well in the water until fully integrated.
