Objective: To perform a complete worship ritual for Mother Naageshwari on Naag Panchami.
Prerequisites/Requirements: Murti or photo of Mother Naageshwari, incense sticks, lamp, flowers or petals, small bowl with unsalted popcorn/fruit/sweet rice, cup (lota) of plain milk (no sugar).
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Place Mother Naageshwari’s image at the prayer place.
- Hold palms in Namaste and chant the welcoming mantra: “Om swagatam su swagatam – Om Naageshwari-yai namah”.
- Offer one or three incense sticks by turning them seven times clockwise around the image while chanting “Om tato dhoopam aghraa-payaami – Om Naageshwari-yai namah”.
- Offer a lamp by turning it seven times clockwise around the image while chanting “Om prat-yaksha deepam darshayaami – Om Naageshwari-yai namah”.
- Offer flowers or petals seven times clockwise while chanting “Om idam pushpam – Om Naageshwari-yai namah”.
- Turn a small bowl of Naivedyam seven times clockwise, bring it to the deity’s lips, and leave it as prashad. Chant “Om naivedyam samar-payaami – Om Naageshwari-yai namah”.
- Turn a lota of plain milk seven times clockwise and bring it near the deity’s lips.
- Recite the forgiveness prayer and express personal requests.
- Conclude by chanting the Naageshwari Gayatri Mantra for the desired count.
