Objective: To conduct a standard worship ritual for Mother Naageshwari on Naag Panchami.
Prerequisites/Requirements: Mother Naageshwari murti/photo, incense sticks, lamp (with ghee/oil/wick or camphor), flower/petals, Naivedyam (unsalted popcorn, fruit, sweet meats, or sweet rice), milk (no sugar).
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Place Mother Naageshwari’s murti or photo at the prayer place.
- Hold palms in Namaste and chant: “Om swagatam su swagatam – Om Naageshwari-yai namah”.
- Light incense sticks and turn them clockwise seven times around the deity while chanting “Om tato dhoopam aghraa-payaami – Om Naageshwari-yai namah”.
- Light a lamp and turn it clockwise seven times while chanting “Om prat-yaksha deepam darshayaami – Om Naageshwari-yai namah”.
- Offer flowers/petals and turn them clockwise seven times while chanting “Om idam pushpam – Om Naageshwari-yai namah”.
- Turn the Naivedyam bowl seven times clockwise, bring it to the deity’s lips, then leave it in front. Chant “Om naivedyam samar-payaami – Om Naageshwari-yai namah”.
- Turn a lota of sugarless milk seven times clockwise and bring it near the lips of the Devi.
- Recite the forgiveness prayer: “Om yaani kaani cha papani…”.
- Offer your heart-felt personal prayers and requests.
- Chant the Naageshwari Gayatri Mantra for the designated number of times.
